Who we are

I started Premier Wake Forest Concrete & Masonry in Wake Forest in 2020, after years of running the schedule for a busy masonry outfit and learning the trade on its crews. We're a masonry contractor, licensed and fully insured, best known for brick and mortar repair and for walls and outdoor work where the planning matters as much as the build. Today we offer 16 services, and our own masons do the work in Wake Forest and the cities around it. You can read more about how I got started and how we work.

Masonry contractor services in Wake Forest, NC

Premier Wake Forest Concrete & Masonry is a masonry contractor in Wake Forest, NC, with 16 services for worn mortar, cracked brick, settling walls and new outdoor work. The price usually turns on how much needs repair, how easy the wall is to reach and whether a hidden cause like trapped water has to be fixed too, while the schedule turns on weather and any permit or approval. Your free on-site estimate puts in writing what we'd do and why.

  • Raised paver patio and walkway with retaining walls, steps, and planted beds beside a dark-sided house.

    Foundation repair

When a foundation wall cracks or settles, we find the cause first, usually water or soil, and then repair the block or brick around it.

  • Brick chimney with a metal cap and black flashing rises from a brown shingle roof beneath a cloudy sky.

    Chimney repair

We rebuild the cracked concrete cap on top, replace crumbling brick and repoint worn joints on chimneys, so rain has fewer ways into the masonry and the house.

  • Curved gravel walkway bordered by pale stone edging, river rocks, shrubs, and a wooden fence.

    Tuckpointing

If your brick is sound but the mortar between it has gone sandy or recessed, tuckpointing replaces those joints with fresh mortar shaped to match the old lines.

  • Large red-brick house with arched windows, pale stone trim, and a low brick garden wall at sunset.

    Brick repair

We cut out cracked, loose or flaking bricks, set replacements matched as closely as we can in size and color, and leave the sound wall around them alone.

  • A broad gray stone-paver driveway curves around landscaped palm islands toward a large white stucco home.

    Driveway pavers

We build paver driveways on a compacted gravel base with solid edging, for homeowners who want a drive they can repair one paver at a time.

  • A low curved retaining wall of rough beige stone blocks borders a mulched garden bed with shrubs and flowers.

    Retaining wall construction

Our retaining walls go up in block or stone with drainage gravel and a pipe behind them, because water building up behind a wall is what usually pushes it over.

  • Broad gray stone retaining wall with wide steps beside a flower-filled garden and paved patio.

    Masonry restoration

Older brick homes often need more than one fix, so restoration repairs the brick, joints and details as one planned job, with mortar soft enough for the original brick.

  • Low retaining wall made of irregular multicolored stones, with leafy plants above and gravel in front.

    Fireplace installation

We build masonry fireplaces in brick or stone, from the firebox to the hearth and surround, for homeowners adding a wood-burning fireplace to a living room or patio.

  • Stone veneer surrounds a dark wooden front door, with black wall lanterns and a rocking chair on the tiled porch.

    Stone veneer installation

Stone veneer is a thin stone face set over an existing wall, and we install it over a moisture barrier so water behind it has a way out.

  • Tiered gray concrete block retaining wall with stone caps, garden plants, and a small bird sculpture.

    Concrete block walls

For garden walls, privacy walls and the sides of a raised patio, we lay concrete block on a poured footing, with steel and grout where the wall needs strength.

  • Gray stone walkway steps with broad rectangular treads beside a bed of small gravel.

    Foundation block wall installation

We lay block foundation walls for additions, garages and new crawl spaces, set on a level footing and laid true so the framing above sits square.

  • A gray stone outdoor kitchen with a large fireplace and stacked firewood anchors a patio with red chairs.

    Outdoor kitchen masonry

Outdoor kitchen bases, bars and grill surrounds get built in block, brick or stone, planned around your grill, your gas line and the way you like to cook outside.

  • A red brick walkway and wide steps lead to a home's white front door, bordered by trimmed shrubs.

    Walkway construction

From the driveway to your front door or back steps, we build walkways in brick, pavers or stone on a packed base sloped to shed rain.

  • Stone retaining wall bordering a landscaped garden with purple flowers, shrubs, gravel, and a paved path.

    Brick wall installation

New brick walls go up on a solid footing, whether it's a garden wall or one matched to your house, with weep holes at the base so water can drain.

  • A stone outdoor fireplace and kitchen sit beneath a timber patio cover beside a swimming pool at sunset.

    Stone masonry

Stone masonry covers natural stone walls, steps, columns and repairs to old stonework, cut and fit by hand for homeowners who want real stone rather than a veneer.

  • Large stone house with a curved paver walkway leading across a lawn to the front steps.

    Brick pointing

When only a few joints are cracked or missing, brick pointing rakes out and refills just those spots, a smaller job than full tuckpointing and often all a wall needs.

I walk the job with you and show you what's wrong and why before I price anything, so you know what you're paying for.

Your masonry questions answered

How much does masonry repair cost in Wake Forest, NC?

Cost comes down to your particular job, so I give you a figure after walking it with you in a free on-site estimate. A chimney with a few bad joints and a foundation wall with water behind it are very different jobs, even on the same house.

Is it cheaper to repair brick or rebuild the whole wall?

Repair usually costs less when most of the wall is sound, because we replace only the damaged brick and mortar. Rebuilding starts to make sense when a wall is leaning, its footing has failed or the damage runs through most of it.

How long does a masonry project take?

It depends on the size of the job, the weather and whether a permit or historic district approval has to come first. Mortar needs dry weather that isn't freezing, so I set the schedule once you say go and tell you what we're waiting on.

Does a masonry contractor in North Carolina need a license?

The NC Licensing Board for General Contractors says that by law a general contractor must be licensed when the total project cost is $40,000 or more. We're licensed and fully insured, so feel free to ask about either during the estimate.

Who will actually be working on my house?

Our own masons do the work, and I check in on the job as it goes. Since I'm the one who comes out for the estimate, the person you walked the job with stays involved until it's done.

Is your masonry work guaranteed?

Our work is backed by our satisfaction guarantee. If something about the finished job concerns you, call us at (984) 237-6028 and we'll talk it over.

What kind of mortar should be used on older brick?

Older brick usually needs a softer mortar than what's sold for new work, because mortar harder than the brick can crack or flake the brick around it as the wall moves. We pick the mix after looking at your brick and the joints already there.

Does the Town of Wake Forest handle permits for my address?

Only if your home sits inside the city limits or the ETJ, the area just outside the limits that the city also covers, and some homes with a Wake Forest address fall outside it. Unincorporated areas of Wake County go through Wake County Permits and Inspections instead. Either way, you're responsible for making sure the right permits are obtained, so it's worth checking before work starts.
